Dr. Vijayakumar D.R is a senior psychiatrist with more than 30+ years of experience in handling mental health issues in India, Australia and the United Kingdom. He completed his medical schooling from Mysore Medical College and did his psychiatry training in the prestigious National Institute Of Mental Health And Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore.
He received further training in Australia as a senior registrar and worked in Melbourne as a consultant psychiatrist. He then worked for a few years in Pennine Care Trust, Oldham in the United Kingdom. He has been involved in teaching both under graduate medical students and post graduate students pursing psychiatry as their field of specialty. He has been involved in research and has publications in his name and has also been the principal investigator in drug trials.
His special interests are in Obsessive Compulsive Disorders and Anxiety Disorders. He treats patients with both medications and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. He also uses biofeedback effectively in treating the above illnesses. He has also extensive experience in handling mental health crisis having worked in Melbourne Australia as the consultant of the crisis assessment team.
